(JENNERSTOWN, PA) Burnin’ Asphalt and the American Sim Racing Series have joined forces for the 2009 season to promote simulated asphalt short track racing to the masses. Burnin’ Asphalt, a brand new short track themed website dealing with all things asphalt was created in a partnership between ASRS President Jim Foose and SlinginDirt.com officers Adam Zuidema and Marcus Mackey. Burnin Asphalt will feature downloads for NASCAR Racing 2003 Season and rFactor including carsets and tracks. There will also be a paintshop, where logos and designs will be posted for everyone’s enjoyment. A community forum will be included in the site and will serve the sim racing community with information clearly organized and in a central location.
The program will activate with two race sponsorships this week, first BurninAsphalt.com will be the presenting sponsor of the ASRS Outlaw Paintshop All American Series Drink Green Beer 100 Tuesday evening at Jennerstown Speedway. The following day, the ASRS Late Model Sportsman Series will compete in the BurninAsphalt.com 75 at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida.
“What the entire crew at SlinginDirt have done over the past few years is simply amazing, now they have partnered with myself to bring the asphalt equivalent to the sim racing world” said Jim Foose, ASRS President and former ShortTrackSim.com moderator. “With the community losing ShortTrackSim, this is the best news for asphalt short trackers in all sims. In addition to serving the NASCAR Racing 2003 Season community, the rFactor community will be well represented as well.” Foose continued.
“Combining the league prowess of the ASRS with the abilites and community of www.slingindirt.com seemed like a no brainer when it was suggested by Mr. Foose” stated Adam Zuidema, Administrator at SlinginDirt.com. We had been looking to focus on asphalt racing in rFactor and NR2K3 for a while and the opportunity had just never presented itself where we felt like we could properly support the community. Now we can, with the ASRS leagues, a large knowledge base, great skin painters, and with future mods for both platforms.” Continued Zuidema, who is also the current ASRS Outlaw Paintshop All American Series points leader.
The American Sim Racing Series has seen continued growth since its birth in 2002. Since 2005, some of the biggest names in short track sim racing have raced in the American Sim Racing Series, making it America’s #1 Online Short Track League.
